Allu Arjun Pushpa - Nani Shyam Singha RoyEarlier in the day, Natural Star Nani announced the release date of his upcoming, Shyam Singha Roy. It will hit screens on December 24th for the Christmas weekend. It comes a week after Allu Arjun’s Pushpa. One could guess why a topic like ‘who’s in danger?’ arrives in the first place.

When two notable films release back to back, there is always a chance of one backfiring and one benefiting. Between Pushpa and Shyam Singha Roy, it could be any film. It, therefore, makes word of mouth a critical factor along with the hype.

Pushpa already has hype which is why it could take up a non-holiday weekend. It is also ready to clash with a Hollywood biggie on the same day. It will have no impact in the smaller centres, but there would be screen sharing in major A-centres. We saw that with Sye Raa when it had War and Joker to deal with.

Shyam Singha Roy arriving a week later only increases the pressure on Pushpa to get the excellent talk. If it (word of mouth) matches the hype, there would be no looking back irrespective of competition. Even average word of mouth will make it sail through.

On the other hand, Shyam Singha Roy has to be at the top of its game. It can’t afford the luxury to be average to survive the competition as it lacks the hype. Between two averages, the audience always prefers the one featuring the bigger star or ‘hype’ or one that offers more big-screen entertainment.

The only chance for Shyam Singha Roy to leave a mark is if it is on the positive side and Pushpa on the negative. A key thing to remember here is that RRR would be on everyone’s mind at that point. Its arrival would affect the average fares coming before it.

The bottom line is Pushpa has only one option to be in the danger zone. Shyam Singha Roy, meanwhile, has only one option to be out of the danger zone.
