It is known that the Central government has selected Andhra Pradesh along with Delhi and Rajasthan for the pilot project of 24×7 power to domestic and industrial sectors. Andhra Pradesh government has announced that the power cuts in AP will end from October 2nd and they are very much in track for the target. Earlier it was thought that it was necessary to separate domestic and agricultural feeders for this project.

Officials claim that giving uninterrupted power only through single phase supply will ensure households get 24×7 power supply. Andhra Pradesh government is also working on coal procurement to increase the power supply of from the existing 135 million units per day to nearly 150 million units at the earliest. The center has already decided to give 65 MW additional power supply to AP and also allocate an additional four lakh tonnes of coal from western coal fields, A pact with Odisha-based Mahanadi Coalfields will also bring two lakh tonnes of more coal to the state.

The Central government should announce what the working model of the pilot project and as far as our state is concerned the government should come out with a clear plan on how it will supply uninterrupted 24-hour power to domestic consumers and industries. The infrastructure needs to be strengthened and power generation has to be increased.
