There were massive expectations with the opening day numbers of Powerstar Pawan Kalyan starrer Agnyaathavaasi. The trade expectation, which we reported previously, was that it would come close to 40 Cr in Telugu states alone and challenge Baahubali 2 in few areas.
Unfortunately, all of that turned out to be dream stuff. It would still have been fine if Agnyaathavaasi did decently over the extended weekend and passed those expectations sooner. But crossing the opening day expectations has turned out to be a nightmare for the trade and the fans.
The movie has completed one week, and the sad reality is that, in the Telugu states, Agnyaathavaasi has just about managed to reach the first-day estimations. In few areas, it is ahead while in others it is behind. The overall number too is less than the opening day number of Baahubali 2.
The disastrous performance has left everyone shocked. There is no single area where it had an exception. It was a universal tank. The fact that a film in the combination of Pawan Kalyan and Trivikram Srinivas was not even the second choice for people during the holidays should suffice to say how bad the situation has been.
In the first week, Agnyaathavaasi has collected a little above Fifty Crore worldwide. It is likely to end its run all over very soon.
