Age gap between hero and heroines is not a big deal in film industry and it is proved even at the time of NTR and ANR. History may be repeating itself in all industries including both in Bollywood and Tollywood. Many movies have become big hits despite huge gap between hero and heroine.
Currently, Deepika Padukone (27)-Sharukh Khan (48) combination is a big hit, thanks to super-duper hit Chennai Express. Many objected when Shahrukh preferred Deepika for Om-Shanti-Om seven years ago. Aamir Khan selected Asin for his Ghanjani movie five years ago despite opposition from critics.
It might have prompted Sunny Deol to select a girl who has only one-third of his age. 57 years old Sunny is acting with 19 years old Urvashi Rautela in Singh Saab The Great. The heroine says she has no objection for the 38 years gap between them. The second place goes to pair Rajanikanth (62)-Deepika (27) as the gap is 35 years.
Telugu audience don’t attach much importance for the age gap. For instance, there is more than 20 years gap between Venkatesh (52) and Trisha (30). But the pair is considered to be a big hit on the silver screen. Chemistry between Venkatesh and Anjali (27)in Seetamma Vakitlo Sirimallechettu was perfect and the song Vanachinukulu….was a big hit. Combination of Nagarjuna (54)-Anushka (31) is also good in their recent movie Dhamarukam. Now Nag is acting with Richa Gangopadhyay (27) in Bhai movie. Heroes have long career, allowing them to act with next generation girls too say film pundits.
