2,484 murder cases were registered in 2013 in the United AP making the state front runner than other states in the country. What is more shocking is 15% of these murders i.e., about 385 cases are due to extra-marital or love affairs. At least one person was killed every day in the state due to these reasons in the last one year. Love Failures, Cheating of partners after marriage spilled more blood in the state than any other causes like political, financial or property disputes.
Tamil Nadu stands second in such murders with 316 cases. The north-eastern states Sikkim, Nagaland and Manipur recorded no such murders in the past year. In undivided AP, the other reasons for murders are Killed by robbers (240 people), Property disputes (152 murders), Personal reasons (230). 15 victims were murdered suspecting witchcraft and Political killings were 12 in the year 2013.
