Fake news has become a big menace in the online world. The speed at which it spreads in social media is a worrisome trend. To put a check to the same, Andhra Pradesh police has come with a special helpline.
AP CID Chief, Sri. PV Sunil Kumar has come up with a unique idea. He is launching a helpline over Watsapp to the people. It is to verify the credibility of the news doing the round online and also to report the cyberbullies.
It is for the lunch of the helpline number, actors Adivi Sesh and Nikhil Siddharth were invited as the guest of honour. Famous Badminton player PV Sindhu also accompanies them at the launch. It is done via a live video call.
The Honourable DGP of Andhra Pradesh, Sri Gautam Sawang unveiled the helpline number. The function took place at AP DGP office in Mangalagiri. The whole idea is part of ‘Say No To Fake News’ and ‘Be Cyber Smart’ campaign initiated by the AP Police department. It is a timely effort from them as there is visible online abuse happening right now.
Meanwhile, the Andhra Pradesh government has also brought out new law to control the online fake news peddling and abuses. It intends to dole out harsh punishments to the offenders.
