Actress Deepika Padukone has visited JNU where the students protesting against CAA were attacked by some alleged members of BJP’s affiliated organizations. The actress went in support of those who are affected. Though she did not speak there, Sources close to her said she had gone to express solidarity with the students.
This is a real risk taken by Deepika to rub BJP on the wrong side especially two days ahead of the release of her new movie, Chhappaak. There were already calls to boycott the movie. The actress plays the role of an acid attack victim in the movie.
Stakes are even high for her because she is also the producer of the movie. A section of people is appreciating her courage to stand by what she believes right. While the offending section says that it is just a publicity stunt. Chhapaak releases on January 10th.
