aamir khan press meet on controversial rumoursBollywood star hero Aamir Khan is making headlines for not only his comments on ‘growing intolerance’ in the country but also for a trivial amount of Rs.817. His family owns an ancestral land in Akhtiyaarpur and agricultural land Hardoi. A total of Rs.817 had to be deposited by Aamir’s family as land tax.

According to the reports, the Sub-divisional magistrate has ordered him to pay the tax dues. This trivial update is interesting because Aamir Khan’s super hit film ‘Lagaan’ which was India’s entry to Academy Awards was based on abolition of tax on the lands of the farmers in British India.

Now Aamir is in independent India and the tax system has through many changes since the British left the country. But abolition of tax isn’t possible as it earns huge revenue to any State.
