Tollywood-Number-One-hero

The completion for the leading Telugu actor, the number in Telugu cinema is finally down to two stars Pawan Kalyan and Mahesh Babu. While Jr NTR and Ram Charan too were in the race earlier on their films have failed to live up to the expectations that one has from a number one. While Ram Charan is scoring big with his films in Andhra Pradesh (in fact it can be said he is the most consistent of the four) he is failing to reach the mark in key territories like overseas and Nizam. It is also somewhat similar position for Jr NTR as well.

On the other hand Pawan Kalyan and Mahesh Babu are racing ahead of the competition with stupendous performance all over. Among the two Pawan Kalyan has shown more consistency across all territories unlike Mahesh Babu who is yet to make it big in smaller mass centers. Under these circumstances Pawan Kalyan scored massively with Atharintiki Daredi and finally took a substantial lead in the race.

Which then brings us to Mahesh Babu starrer 1 Nenokkadine. Unlike Atharintiki Daredi this is not a genre that has acceptability across all sections of audience and also the film is going to release in a normal way that is it doesn’t come with a sympathy factor or after a long dry spell without any big releases like Atharintiki Daredi. As if that was not enough 1 Nenokkadine is likely to face a big competition at the box office in the form of Ram Charan starrer Yevadu. So circumstances aside these two films have nothing in common except for the hype.

What this means is the 1 Nenokkadine doesn’t have a fair chance to score big at the box office or if it fails it might tank harder than it would under normal circumstances. Keeping all this in mind we feel it wouldn’t be fair to pit 1 Nenokkadine with Atharintiki Daredi to decide the leading hero and the eventual number 1 among the two and Telugu cinema as well. We feel one has to wait till Aagadu to make a final conclusion. Also Aagadu would be releasing around the same time as Gabbar Singh 2 starring Pawan Kalyan. Therefore this would be a fair competition and then a final judgment could be passed as per the performances of these films. What do you think?
