The mega biggie RRR continues to be the most affected Telugu film due to the coronavirus pandemic. The delay in the completion of the film, and subsequently, the release combined with the on-going crisis is putting a dent to the team where it could hurt the most.
A buzz has come out in trade circles that the US distributor of RRR has decided to opt-out of the deal it previously signed. Phars Films, which has the worldwide rights of the movie, is asked to return to the advance amount. A final decision will be taken in the coming days. It will depend on how things turn out after the US opens its cinema halls in July.
As many might be aware, RRR created a new All-India record for the pre-release business. With the situation entirely out of control currently and people not in the mood to come back to theatres as they did previously, more distributors could be echoing similar thoughts as the US one.
If that is the case, it could be a big blow to the unit of RRR. It is made at a mammoth budget, and a record-breaking pre-release business was needed to take the producer to safety.
The latest on the shooting front is that SS Rajamouli has cancelled the trail shoot owing to the impossible rules and regulations. One is not sure when it would resume.
Amidst such uncertainties, the coming days are surely not painting a rosy picture for RRR. DVV Danayya produces the period patriotic action entertainer. Jr NTR and Ram Charan play the lead roles in the movie directed by SS Rajamouli.
The makers of RRR has planned a simultaneous release across multiple languages. A fresh update on the release date is awaited from the makers.
