RRR is the biggest pan-India movie waiting to arrive in cinemas as soon as possible. Well, that won’t be happening anytime soon. An official announcement will be made shortly, but before that, we have a final nail in RRR’ Pan-India ambition.
On August 19th, the first big notable Bollywood biggie released in cinemas after a long gap. In fact, as far as star value is concerned, it would be a first in over a year. And yet, it opened to abysmal numbers. The movie is none other than Akshay Kumar starrer Bell Bottom.
The opening day collections of Bell Bottom are out, and they are reported to be around 2.5 Cr Nett. This is terrible and, in fact, lower than some medium budget flicks that came out earlier in the year. However, one needs to remember here that unlike those, Bell Bottom has the entire territory of Maharashtra closed.
It is clear now that the Bollywood film industry and its audience have a long way to go before returning to normalcy. A film like RRR can’t be released in cinemas in a closed market. It is, therefore, a massive blow to not just RRR, but all pan-India aspirants.
RRR is now rumoured to arrive on April 1st 2022. We have to wait for Rajamouli’s statement for an official word, which is expected to happen soon.
