Tollywood Small anad Medium filmsThe way things are going at the moment, one can see a double blow in store for the small to medium budget movies of the Telugu film industry in the coming days. It is mainly because TFI(Tollywood Film Industry) has failed to give a genuine OTT blockbuster. As a result, it is unable to compete in the open market and get high prices recovering their costs.

Huge offers are coming for other language movies on the OTT platform, but it is not the case when it comes to Telugu cinema. The platforms are wary of the last year biggie’s performance. None of the big-ticket Telugu movies managed to create a ripple. In fact, they were disastrous.

Still, it is okay for the big ones of the tier two category due to the star power. The same can’t be said about the other movies coming in this bracket. It is mainly due to the poor content. A lack of blockbuster – massive critically acclaimed must-watch category film is denting the prospects. The TFI movies are not able to compete with other industries in this space.

The bigger problem here is that even if the small-medium project hold for theatrical release, the post-second wave scenario won’t be the same as before. Many biggies are waiting in the wings to hit the cinemas. It will be crowded. It is a problem if they space out the releases, as well.

So, you have a scenario where the upcoming small to medium budget films don’t have ‘big’ OTT offers and also weak theatrical prospects. It is truly a tough time for the many films that failed to get to the cinemas or were about to get to the cinemas post the first wave.
