miss tanakpur hazir ho movie controversyHere is a political satire ‘Miss Tanakpur Hazir Ho’ on how the rural Khap Panchayats work in the Northern States of India. The satirical take is on how a young man is said to have raped a buffalo which was crowned ‘Miss Tanakpur’ and the panchayat dictates the young man to marry the buffalo.

The film is scheduled to release on June 26 but the khap panchayat union of Muzaffarnagar is fuming on the director Vinod Kapri for ill-portraying and mocking at the diktats of the panchayats. Angered by the trailer, the panchayat announced a bounty of 51 buffaloes for bringing the director dead or alive.

The khap panchayat has banned the movie and also threatens to attack the theatres if released. But the director remains unfazed saying his film passed through censor certification. He is ready for a premiere show to the panchayat heads and allow them to decide that there is nothing against them to show in bad light.
