Ram Charan tough timeWhen Ram Charan crossed 40 Cr with the film Racha it was considered a superlative performance and then he had Nayak and Yevadu crossing the mark which seemed fine in competition. By the time Govindudu Andari Vadele arrived some of his contemporary stars had crossed the 50 Cr benchmark more than once which made GAV look like an under performer.

And now we have another film from Ram Charan, Bruce Lee, that is going to touch the 40 Cr mark. Today the scenario has changed completely when compared to the Racha and Naayak days. The performance is not only deemed as an underperformance, it is seen as an outright rejection from the audience.

What is more disturbing fact here in introspection is that apart from the one SS Rajamouli directorial film, none of his films have crossed the 50 Cr mark which puts him in the same boat as Jr NTR who is considered to be going through a lean phase. Does it also mean that the same can be applied to Charan as well?

40 Cr club which once made Cherry popular for his Box office figures has today turned into a curse. His inability to cross the 40’s and get to 50’s is seen as a big weakness for him that highlights his lack of penetration among the general audience. With a film like Thani Oruvan remake lined up ahead, it looks like the curse is going to stay for some more time to come at the least. Tough times ahead for the star and his fans for sure, unless there is a miracle around the corner.
