Bheemla Nayak, the Telugu remake of Ayyappanum Koshiyum is set to hit the screens in U.S. in a few hours from now. Here is a list of the key aspects of the original – Ayyappanum Koshiyum that could be modified, or even bettered in the remake if it is to strike a chord with the Telugu audience.
Character arcs
Through the course of the first half of Ayyappanum Koshiyum, Prithvi Raj’s character has the ‘hero’ vibe. Biju Menon’s character (played by Pawan Kalyan in Bheemla Nayak) doesn’t have much impetus in the opening half. But in the remake, Pawan Kalyan’s character can’t be kept quiet even for a short duration, let alone all of the first half. We need to wait and see how this aspect is handled.
Comedy
There isn’t a single comedy sequence in Ayyappanum Koshiyum. But that can’t be the case with Bheemla Nayak, given the expectations and sensibilities of the Telugu audience. Fittingly, there are reports claiming that Bramhanandam has been roped in to provide some comic relief in the Pawan Kalyan and Rana starrer. If that is the case, a few cosmetic changes should have been made to the narrative. How did this turn out? Is the comedy track in Bheemla Nayak effective enough and blend into a serous drama?
Heroine track
In the original, the female lead track isn’t all that convincing. We get a feeling that the wives of the male leads are there just for the sake of it. They have very little screen time as well. But in Bheemla Nayak, there appears to be some emphasis on the heroine track. The same was implied in the trailer, in which Nithya Menen who plays Pawan’s wife says a few hitting dialogues. It is evident that the remake will have a noteworthy female lead track. This could be one of the distinctive differences between the original and remake.
Climax
This could well be the most important item on the list. The original – Ayyappanum Koshiyum has a pretty ordinary climax. The narrative ends with a fight sequence, which can be seen from a mile away. This is one of the biggest complaints about the film. Now, we are hearing that the makers of the remake conceived a different climax. Ending the film on the right note is very much important and the men behind Bheemla appear to have come up with whatever they could to ensure the same. But will it work out? We will know the answer very soon.
Well, every remake has its own set of challenges when it comes to recreating the magic of the original. Bheemla Nayak will have the same set of challenges. As things stand, the film is riding high on buzz and it could well set the box office on fire if gets a postiive word of mouth.
