2022 has turned out to be a huge disappointment for the Akkineni family. They started the year with an average grosser, Bangarraju, which did well mainly due to the Sankranthi season.
This year Nagarjuna delivered a monstrous disaster with The Ghost. The film went nowhere at the box office. His role as the host in the popular show BIGG BOSS also didn’t get much appreciation.
Naga Chaitanya, too faced rough weather in 2022 as he had to suffer a disaster like Thank You, which sank without a trace at the box office. His Bollywood debut also turned out to be a nightmare, as his film Laal Singh Chaddha was an outright disaster. On top of that, his role and performance were also equally bad. On the personal front, after his divorce from Samantha in October 2021, things got a bit controversial when Sam made some comments about him on Koffee With Karan show.
Akhil expected 2022 would give him the first HIT of his career with Agent, which was supposed to release this year, but that film also got postponed to next year, making him wait for another year for that elusive hit.
Let’s hope that the Akkinenis return with a bang in 2023.
