2013 – Four big directorial discoveriesAfter looking into the biggest gainers and losers among actors it’s time we had a look at the biggest discoveries of the year gone by in terms of the directorial talents.


Koratala Siva Koratala Siva: The one right at the top is writer turned director Koratala Siva. He was one of the most sought after writer even prior to this film but with Mirchi he joined the list of successful writers turning into directors. With his first film itself he got a blockbuster which was also the biggest hit in the career of hero Prabhas. His writing as usual came under good praise and the result is the director being roped in to director a film for none other than Superstar Mahesh Babu.


Sudheer varmaSudheer Varma: One of three biggest surprises of the year was Swamy Ra Ra. The director of the film Sudheer Varma gained instant recognition for handling a crime caper with great precision and for his selection of music and the poster designs. He won a great deal on technical aspects critically and as a result he has been flooded with offers. While it’s still under talk, be prepared for a huge project to be announced with him shortly.


Merlapaka GandhiMerlapaka Gandhi: The second biggest surprise of the season was also from a small film. Merlapaka Gandhi who has had previously not assisted anybody came up with a stunner of a film in the form of Venkatadri Express. The film won the director immense praise and has been since signed for a biggie that would be announced soon.


Virinchi VarmaVirinchi Varma: Finally the third biggest surprise of the year has been a sweet little village romance Uyyala Jampala. Unlike the previous two films there was nothing new in the story and yet the debutant director Virinchi Varma managed to hold the attention throughout and delivered a wholesome family entertainer. The director’s debut film itself was picked up by industry biggies and now after such a humongous success, he has the freedom to do any film that he wants to do without any pressure.
