2013-directors-in-TollywoodJust like the actors we have our share gainers and losers in the directors as well. There were many new and old directors who made a mark at the box office in 2013. Here we look at some of those who have made it to the headlines for the right or wrong reasons.

GAINERS

2013 Biggest Gainers and Losers -DirectorsTrivikram Srinivas: Undoubtedly Trivikram Srinivas the biggest gainer of the year as a director. He has now delivered two back to back huge successes, a Super Hit Julayi and an Industry Hit Atharintiki Daredi. It has put him as a strong contender for posing a threat to the number one director in Telugu currently. Not only that the director is being approached by all the top production houses and actors to direct their next films making hi currently the director with most films offers to choose from. However, the director is reportedly looking at fulfilling his old commitments and would be doings films with Allu Arjun, Ram Charan, Jr NTR and Pawan Kalyan, in the coming years.

2013 Biggest Gainers and Losers -DirectorsSrikanth Addala: On the list director Srikanth Addala finds a second place more due to his capabilities of handling a project as mammoth as Seethamma Vakitlo Sirimalle and yet maintaining his touch in it. Although the film failed to reach its potential (especially in AP), it has made the director one of the hottest directors in Tollywood circuits currently. He has been in talks to direct a number of big heroes (Mahesh Babu, Pawan Kalyan and Jr NTR) but the immediate job on his hand is to provide a great launch for Varun Tej which goes onto sets soon. He is expected to reunite with Mahesh Babu after the completion of this film.

LOSERS:

2013 Biggest Gainers and Losers -DirectorsHarish Shankar: Just as the biggest gainer was a unanimous choice, the biggest loser too has been a unanimous choice and it is director Harish Shankar. Fans of actor Jr NTR might not forget some of the words the director had said to them prior to the release of the film and the end product he delivered to them. His rise in stature as director post Gabbar Singh and fall on a similar level and more post the release of Ramayya Vastavayya are testimony to the fact about how industry can be so unpredictable. The director has so many films in hand post Gabbar Singh and now he is struggling to get films onto sets. We hope he strikes back with his next whenever it hits the cinemas.

2013 Biggest Gainers and Losers -DirectorsNandini Reddy: There has been a tough fight for the second place for the biggest loser of the year. Names like Puri Jagannadh (Iddarammayilatho), Bhaskar (Ongole Githa) and Veerabhadram Chowdhary (Bhai) came into consideration but ultimately it was Nandini Reddy who has got the second spot. Not only did her film fail she was in news for plagiarism charges. She also finds a place among the rare directors to give a flop with Samantha as heroine. The director is back to zero again and has to start afresh from scratch and prove herself with a new film.

These are our choices for the biggest gainer and losers among the director’s in 2013, do you agree with them? If not who do you think should be on the list. Share us your thoughts.
