10-1-2014, is a release date that is every makers delight. The first three days after the release it’s the weekend and the remaining days weekdays are festive holidays which the state of Andhra Pradesh enjoys the most. It’s the Sankranthi holidays with the best alignment of dates that could be possible.

Naturally then any biggie would like to cash on this date but the situation so far has panned out such that only one biggie has actually confirmed its presence for Sankranthi and its Mahesh Babu starrer 1 Nenokadine. The makers of the film as we have pointed out earlier have already started to book theaters across all the regions to make best use of the holidays. But there seems to be a twist in the tale now. If the very latest reports are to be believed it seems almost confirmed that Yevadu starring Ram Charan would be hitting the screens finally for Sankranthi next year. In a few days, sources say they are going start looking at the theaters issue too. Will they get enough screens only time will tell? Apart from these two biggies there are also rumors that Puri Jagannadh’s next Heart Attack starring Nithin too could hit the screens for Sankranthi next year.

As we said above it’s a dream release date possible for release, it applies to our neighbor Tamil film industry too where it’s Pongal time. And for Pongal this year Tamil film industry is going to witness clash of biggies much like its Telugu counterpart. Here also two films Jilla and Veeram starring two of the biggest stars Vijay and Ajith are going to release simultaneously. The last time both these stars clashed it was Vijay who emerged as victorious but since then Ajith has grown tremendously and he now comes with a success on his back like Arrambam. Also like another film Biriyani starring Karthi too is slated to release for the festival.

So as you can see Sankranthi 2014 is going to have some real box office battles in both Telugu and Tamil film industries all because no one wants to lose such a fabulous release date. A festival like Sankranthi can easily accommodate two successes as we have seen earlier in the year, would it be a repeat next year as well? Or will there be clear cut winners this time around? Pick your winners from these films.
