In an appreciable initiative by the government of India, it is decided that the rural pockets of India will have 1 lakh new cinema theatres in the next few years.
The department of Common Service Centres has signed an agreement with October Cinemas to build one lakh theaters in the rural areas across the country.
These theaters will have a seating capacity of 100-200 based on the local population. This is a village level enterprise initiative.
The aim is to build 1500 cinemas across the country by the end of 2023. And another 10,000 by the end of 2024. The final goal is to build over 1 lakh theaters in rural India through this initiative.
It is estimated that each theater might cost Rs 15 lakhs. The final tally on the same will be out in the due course.
This initiative could greatly boost Indian cinema as with addition of 1 lakh nee theaters, the reach of the films and their box office prospects will hit an all time high. This will certainly work in the interests of pan India biggies.
