The upcoming biggie in Hindi Film Industry Toilet Ek Prem Katha is being sued by documentary filmmaker, Praveen Vyas. The filmmaker accuses the Bollywood film of stealing the story idea and scenes from his documentary.
Praveen Vyas, alleges that Toilet Ek Prem Katha copies the premise of his documentary film Malini which was premiered at International Indian Film Festival (IIFA), Goa, last year. Its theme was around Swach Bharath, and it won the third best film among thousands of entries. Entire scenes have been lifted as it is from Manini, says Praveen.
Meanwhile, the makers of Toilet Ek Prem Katha say they are not aware of Malini. The movie was an original idea, and it has been in public domain since 2015, they insist. The last minute threats of copying are just cheap tactics, according to them. Let’s see where the issue goes from here as Praveen Vyas is in no mood to relent.
