‘Padmaavat’ has definitely become a topic of discussion for many things and here we have one more reason to contradict with Sanjay Leela Bhansali. Bollywood actress cum occasional writer Swara Bhaskar is questioning the director for glorifying certain things.
Movie lovers along with Swara Bhaskar are left awestruck for the visual grandiose and the way the movie was splendidly shot. But she has an objection. Why did the filmmaker glorify the regressive practices like Sati and Jauhar in ‘Padmaavat‘?
Swara wrote an open letter to the director pointing out the present context in which women are still objectified and their purity is decided based on their vagina. Does it mean that every rape victim must end life like Padmaavat whose act of sacrificing her life was shown as a courageous act.
