The state of Maharashtra is presently going through a severe drought to the extent that the affected regions are even lacking in drinking water. In this moment of distress, some celebrities like Nana Patekar and Akshay Kumar have already come forward to help and support the people living in these regions by adopting some drought-affected villages of Maharashtra and the latest person to join the fray is Aamir Khan.
This decision of Aamir’s comes from a recent visit to the affected regions where he came across two of the most affected villages, Tal and Koregaon and decided to adopt, support and uplift them. These villages are not the first villages adopted by Aamir. In fact, the actor had adopted villages in Gujarat in the wake of the horrible Earthquakes of 2001.
As for other efforts, Aamir is also touring the drought-hit areas to teach the villagers the techniques of water conservation and has also launched the Satyamev Jayate Water Cup – a water management and decentralisation contest among the villages of Maharashtra along with Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis.
