A huge fight broke out on the sets of the film Padmavati as protesters attacked the crew shooting the film in Rajasthan. Padmavati is currently being shot in Jaigarh Fort in Rajasthan.
Padmavati is a historical which deals with the story of Mohammad Khilji and Rani Padmavati. The director of the movie is Sanjay Leela Bhansali who had previously made Bajirao Mastani. There were reports that just like the directors last historical this too would feature intimate romance between the King and Queen. This rumor hurt the sentiments of Rajput community and a wing representing them reached the sets.
Members of Karni Sena vandalized the sets, slapped the director and pulled his hair. No official case has been registered but it is said that the director has assured there would be no distortion of facts. For now, the Karni Sena has retracted but they promise to surface around the release of Padmavati if the director fails to keep his words.
