Bollywood heartthrob Ranbir Kapoor arrived as the prodigal son from Kapoor family expected to take over the industry. He showed immense promise, and after many slogs, the Kapoor lad delivered what everyone expected of him. Instantly, he was anointed as the next number 1 after the Khans. All of this was five years ago, and now things have changed drastically.
Ranbir Kapoor is going through a terrible phase with monstrous disasters in his kitty. Under such circumstances, his combination with arguably India’s number one director Raju Hirani lifted the spirit among the fans and within the industry. The icing on the cake was the movie being a biography of controversial figure Sanjay Dutt.
There is an immense buzz on the project. The advance bookings reflect the interest. As we previously mentioned there was some skepticism initially among the trade, but now it is clear, Sanju is going to challenge the best advance bookings in the history of Bollywood overtaking the Khans.
That would mean Ranbir Kapoor going ahead of the Khans for the first time in his career. But there is a bigger challenge and one that involves the two top directors of the country, Raju Hirani, and SS Rajamouli. Will the former be able to challenge the lifetime of the later with a unanimously accepted movie? Or at least will Raju Hirai take Sanju past the 400 Cr barrier with that subject and claim his supremacy?
