The Shahid Kapoor and Alia Bhatt starrer ‘Udta Punjab’ has been in the news lately for its large number of explicit sequences and the slangs used in the film. As a result, the film got a lot of trouble from the Censor Board (with 89 ordered cuts) before its release in India but still pulled through with help of courts.
‘Udta Punjab’, which already lost some revenue because of it being leaked on the internet, was also intended to release in Pakistan. However, from what we hear the Censor Board there has ordered about 100 cuts and the director of the film had to take the tough decision of not releasing it in the country.
While Abhishek Chaubey, the director, accepts that not screening it in Pakistan is a loss in the revenue, he said that “it would make no sense to release it with the said cuts.
