How come expressing one’s opinion on a movie termed as copyright infringement? That’s what Facebook did when an environmental activist posted his comment against ‘Padmaavat‘ calling it a bore fest.
When Leo Saldanha, an environmental activist posted a comment after watching ‘Padmaavat’ which said that he felt sleepy in the first half and in the second half, it was horrific to watch the mass suicide in the name of Rajput honour. Copyright infringement allegations were made by Viakom18 that distributed ‘Padmaavat’.
Hence, Facebook deleted the post immediately without giving any prior notice. When Leo Saldanha asked how it is copyright infringement to post his opinion, Facebook Management further threatened to permanently block his account. This is definitely threat to an individual’s freedom of expression. What do you think?
