After months and months of build-up, here it is the first glimpse of Sridevi’s daughter Janhvi as a heroine. She is making her debut with the Bollywood movie Dhadak which is a remake of blockbuster Marathi film Sairat.
The trailer, and the performances, as expected are receiving a mixed response, and we too agree with those voices. In fact, anyone who has seen the original might feel that way. Now, if we look Dhadak for just what it is without any comparison, it seems like another regular masala love story made by the director Shashank Khaitan. Remember Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania or Badrinath Ki Dulhania? Dhadak could easily pass as the third from the maker and lead pair too could be exchanged, it looks that generic.
Back to Janhvi, she looks easy on the eye and has a good voice. It adds to her screen presence, but, she still doesn’t seem to be entirely comfortable onscreen. The overall first impression is that of just pass, which is fine as things could have been much worse. It is in quite a contrast with Ishan Khattar who looks at ease. However, that was expected as we mentioned here.
Check out the trailer below. All said and done, Dhadak is coming with huge expectations and is backed by big names. It is a challenge for any debutant. We have to see how the audience reacts to Janhvi. The love story hits cinemas worldwide on July 20th.
