One film which made all the right news over the last couple of weeks is the Bollywood film Udta Punjab. This controversial film made headlines when the censors asked for close to 80 cuts. A shattered team of Udta Punjab then accused the censor chief Pahlaj Nihlani of personal grudge and took the film to the Bombay high court. Surprisingly, the high court voted in favor of the makers by passing it with just only one cut.
Now, the same film is once again in news as at least 40 minutes of the film has been leaked online. Reports suggest that there might be a hand of the censor officials itself as the leaked film clearly showcased ‘For censor stamp’ in the leaked footage. This has created an outrage among the Hindi media and the blame game has started.
The makers are trying hard to remove these leaked online parts it as it has already spread widely now. This is not the first time that a Hindi film has been leaked online. Previously, Nawazuddins Manji the mountain man was also one film which bore the brunt and ran into several losses when it was leaked online.
Based on the drug abuse in Punjab the makers of the film found some solace as the court passed with only one cut. Now after a long battle won and the film ready to release this Friday and promotions going on in full swing, the makers face an uphill task of fighting their own industry enemies and getting removed from online. Directed by Abhishek Sharma this film has ex lovers Shahid kapur and Kareena Kapur in lead roles along with Alia Bhatt.
