Here is a writer turned director who has made three films so far. While one of them is a blockbuster, the other two are disaster movies, with one being an all-time disaster. We are talking about the Bollywood director Vijay Krishna Acharya of Dhoom 3 fame.
Vijay Krishna Acharya aka Victor has provided scripts and is the writer for the two blockbuster Dhoom films. it prompted the makers, Yash Raj Film to turn him into a director. The first film he got was a highly ambitious Tashan, which bit the dust at the box office.
Unfazed by the unfavourable response, Aditya Chopra, head honcho of Yash Raj Film gave Victor another opportunity with the third part of Dhoom which turned out to be successful due to brand value. The director’s lack of worth was proved immediately with the next attempt Thugs Of Hindostan (starring Amitabh Bachchan, Aamir Khan and Katrina Kaif) that was an All-Time-Disaster.
And yet despite such a track record, YRF is offering Vijay Krishna Acharya another film on the patter. It is another large scale action film, but with a horror-comedy twist. Vicky Kaushal of Uri-The Surgical Strike fame will be the lead in the movie. It will be his first film for the banner.
The Vicky Kaushal– Victor film from YRF is one among the many planned by the production house as part of its fifty years celebrations. The fact that despite such turkeys Victor is still favoured by Aditya Chopra (all films of the director belonging to the same banner) suggests a lifeline given by the latter.
