The entire Telugu film industry (actors, directors, producers, technicians) have come forward with generous donations to help the people in crisis. Every day we hear new names. Today, Akkineni Nagarjuna, Mahesh Babu (again) and others have come forward to help the cine workers in the struggling period.
It is the same with other South India film industries as well. During the same time, Bollywood has been criticised for not being similarly active. No big name has provided help in the time of a national crisis like this.
Well, finally one big star has responded. He is none other than Akshay Kumar, often referred to as Mr Bharat of the current generation. The Bollywood star has donated 25 Cr to the PM CARES fund. It is the first and is most likely to create a ripple effect.
Akshay Kumar took to social media to announce the donation. He quoted Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Twitter and said, it is the time when all that matters is the lives of our people.
Earlier in the day, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has announced PM – CARES fund for disaster management. The PM shared the details on how the donations can be made, no matter how small.
