What is the film about? Oka Manasu Review Script Analysis
Sandhya (Niharika) loves Surya ( Naga Shourya) from the first time she sets her eyes on him. Surya too reciprocates equally and chemistry is born that develops deeply irrespective of the individual opinions and choices they have at hand. How very realistic set of circumstances lead to difficult situations which leaves these two individuals with no choice and what happens in the end is what the film is all about.
How is Niharika’s performance? Oka Manasu Review Star Performance
Niharika so far has an impression of an over the top girl based on her show and short film. However in the film she gets a role that is exactly opposite of the image she has created. Now that one has seen the film it can be said that she is completely unfit in the role she has chosen for her debut on screen. Oka Manasu has number of sequences that require her to act in a natural way but apart from putting a smiling face she does nothing to engage with audience. With the entire film depending on ‘realistic’ performance the impression created is very bad. She has a good dialogue delivery and that is about the only positive we can think of.
Direction By Rama Raju? Oka Manasu Review Direction Analysis
Director Rama Raju has previously made similar film that didn’t appeal to many but it had its point, Oka Manasu follows the same tangent. The film without a doubt has a point and a strong one at that but the problem is that it is never felt during the narration.
Both the halves of the film moves at snail’s pace. First half has less twists in the story and it feels tiresome due to the pace. By the time the film reaches interval point and the message it conveys at that point one gets a feeling of watching an entire film at that stage. The fact that there is still a second half left to be completed, there is a dreaded feeling left in one’s mind.
Second half starts on expected lines and there is a bored to death feeling from the beginning. Things get interesting, within the words the director has created during the pre-climax when the story moves with good drama and twists, if one of connected to this segment the climax makes an impact but if one has lost interest at the start itself there is simply no coming back and its one big never ending downward slope from the beginning.
The film surely has a point to make but it’s the execution sans any technical value and chemistry between lead pair whatsoever that undoes the effect. Poor direction to blame for this, every individual scene lacks the zing even though there are dialogues to keep one engaged. Also the dialogues are of exposition type which is so out of the narrative throughout the length that never does one feel engrossed in the narrative even though one can understand the pain. Bad chemistry and direction mars the theme.
Naga Shourya and others?
Naga Shourya is alright in the film. he is not bad but at the same time he doesn’t put the performance that is so required for the film to work. There is lot of subtlety and emotions required to display and the actor fails on all levels barring few moments. In any other film this would been passed off as decent performance but for Oka Manasu this is a poor performance, one which never gets the grammar of the film made. Niharika and Naga Shourya are the two major characters of the film and they both are a failure. Apart from them there is a Pragathi, Rao Ramesh and Hemanth. Pragathi is a disaster, Rao Ramesh is fine, Hemanth is alright. Vennela Kishore in cameo is alright.
Music and other departments? Oka Manasu Review Music Analysis
Music by Sunil Kashyap is alright. The background score which is literally present throughout is good in parts otherwise overdone. Cinematography is decent. Editing is fine. Dialogues are good with few being extremely well written.

To get an idea about the alternative take one needs to watch few Malayalam films. Films like Oka Manasu need to have scintillating chemistry between lead pair and extraordinary music and taking. With the same story and screenplay and above mentioned changes Oka Manasu would have been a classic in Telugu as well.
