Kalavathi-reviewWhat is the film about?
Murali’s (Siddharth) family which stays in a mansion is haunted by a ghost. Why is it after the family and how Murali manages to save him and his family is what the film is all about.

How is Artist’s performance?
Although Siddharth is the bigger known face and star of the enterprise, he has a low key role in the film. For a brief part he isn’t seen on screen too. There is nothing to speak performance wise, the actor is adequate is all one could say.

Kalavathi-reviewDirection By Sundar.C?
Once again Kalavathi shows the directors command in handling a big scale masala product that caters to the masses. It is sans logic but manages to engage with its fast pacing and comedy. Add horror to the mix and you have a perfect recipe for success. After Chandrakala, Sunder C gives us Kalavathi in similar mould with bigger cast and crew. He works around the typical horror comedy elements well and delivers in the all important climax. It’s lengthy but it works and with it the film also works.

Kalavathi-reviewTrisha, Hansika and others?
Trisha has bigger screen time and songs but her role is weaker compared to Hansika. The latter gets meaty role that is what people remember in the end. Hansika did her part well too. After Hansika another real important role is essayed by director Sunder C himself. He is effective in the part. Comedy is handled by Soori in his typical style. It works for most part. Kovai Sarala goes overboard but that’s expected. Poonam Bajwa adds to overall casting but has very little to do.

Kalavathi-reviewMusic and other departments?
Music for the film given by Hip Hop Tamizha is noisy and poor for a Telugu dubbed film. Background score is better in comparison. Editing of the film could have been better. Cinematography is alright. Dialogues are okay.

Fast paced narration
Entertainment

Drawbacks?
Predictable story

Kalavathi-reviewAlternative Take
An alternative take would be to spice up the proceedings by giving something fresh. That could have been achieved if the characters of Trisha and Siddharth were more central to the plot.

Did I enjoy it?

Will you recommend it?
