Telangana government seem to be not learning from past mistakes. The Power scarce state had started produce Hydel Power from Jurala Project which got filled due to the excess flows due to floods in the uprarian states. The state government which is spending huge money to procure power from private players see this as an opportunity.
The state government is planning to generate hydel power from Srisailam and Nagarjuna Sagar going further if water levels increase. Hydel Power is the cheapest power and will help Telangana in cost cutting. But in the process, precious water had to be let down. Telangana did the same last time but suffered water scarcity in the later part of year.
Telangana back then did not even take the offer of Andhra Pradesh government which offered equivalent power from their power plants, if the water is saved. Later both the states suffered due to water scarcity. But Telangana government seem to be repeating the same mistake once again this year for short term gains.
