Minister of State for Home AffairsUnion Minister of State for Home Affairs, Haribhai Parthibhai Chaudhary talking to the media at the Parliament stated that the central government opines that there is no need of Special Status to Andhra Pradesh. He reminded that 14th Finance Commission did not recommend Special Status to any new state other than the existing ones.

He went on to say that Center is already helping the state with special assistance and Tax incentives. He added that Center is committed to reimburse the revenue deficit of the state for the first year as recommended by the 14th Finance Commission. He also reiterated that his government is committed to do every thing for the state development.

So this is the stance of BJP led Central government. BJP back then in Parliament argued that Five years Special Status is not at all enough for the state and demanded 10 years. BJP even went on to put 10 years Special Status in their manifesto but now are clearing going away from their poll promise.
