Ban WhatsApp India Supreme courtEver since Whatsapp was launched in India, it has become an essential part of the mobile phone experience of an average Indian. But ever since Whatsapp launched 256 bit peer to peer encryptions, questions have been rising in people’s mind whether the app may be banned in India.

Truth is, India does not have existing proper encryption laws. However, Sudhir Yadav who is an RTI activist and a MCA completed web developer, has gone to Supreme Court seeking a ban on messenger services which have end to end encryption citing this as a threat to natural security as the Government has no way to access these messages. This services may include Whatsapp and Telegram among others.

Yaadav says that he wishes for strong encryption in web services but believes that the government should have the ultimate key for decrypting all messages.
