Newest State of the country, Telangana failed to win a single spot in the first list of cities that are to be developed as Smart Cities in co-operation with the Central government. The center is selecting the cities by putting competition among the states on various parameters relating to the smart cities development.
There was a staunch criticism on Center for ignoring Telangana back then. Finally Telangana managed a spot in the second round of competition. Warangal from Telangana is placed in the second list of smart cities where there are 13 cities in total. Warangal managed to improve the quality of its Smart City Plan by 13%.
However the improvement of the quality of Smart City Plan puts Warangal at Bottom Four in the thirteen cities list which indicates officials need to put in much better efforts. There is no place for Andhra Pradesh in this new list. Tirupati hoped to make it to the list this time but missed yet again.
