Congress high command is trying all the tricks in trade to repair the struggling Telangana Congress. The high command is planning to make former Indian Cricket Capitain, Mohammed Azharuddin as Telangana Congress President. Azharuddin joined Congress before 2009 elections, and contested for Parliament from UP.
However he lost in 2014 elections. Congress is planning to deploy him in Telangana as he is a Hyderabadi. Congress hopes that such move will also help to consolidate Muslim votes in the newest state of the country. Congress high command is hoping that Azhar’s inclusion will bring past glory to Telangana Congress.
This may not go well in the state, political experts believe. Except for Azharuddin residing in Hyderabad, the banned Cricketer never really had a connection with Telangana Congress or people here. Telangana Congress leaders may find it difficult to work under Azhar leadership as there are many other senior leaders in the state Congress unit.
