The Private Members Bill of KVP Rama Chandra Rao demanding Special Status to Andhra Pradesh is likely to come to voting on August 5th, Friday. BJP successfully bulldozed the bill the other day by stalling Rajya Sabha. Private Members Bills will only come on Fridays and so the bill will come up for voting on 5th.
It has to be seen if BJP will allow the bill to come up for voting that day or come up with some thing new to postpone it. The voting is imminent at any time as the bill will exist as long as KVP is the MP. TDP, Congress, YSR Congress and CPI have already pledged their support to the bill.
Given that there is no majority to BJP in the house, the bill has decent chances to get passed and if that happens, it will be massive embarrassment for the ruling party. Even if it is passed, the Center is not obliged to follow that. So Special Status Private Bill at most can help Congress Politically. The Special Status to Andhra Pradesh will most depend on the political will of BJP and its calculations behind it.
