Two years ago, the double murder of a 10 month old baby girl Saanvi Venna and her 61 year old grandmother Satyavathi Venna in US shocked the whole world for the barbarious act just for a few thousand dollars of ransom. A 28 year old techie from Andhra Pradesh by name Yendamuri Raghunandan who was arrested in US after the dual murders was convicted as guilty by Montgomery Count Court in Maryland, USA on Thursday.

After his conviction, he would undergo a jury trail whether he should be sentenced with a death penalty or life imprisonment. Going into the details of the case, Yendamuri has gone to US in 2007 to study his MS. He knew the Venna’s family there. He eventually was found to be gambler and has a debt of $20,000.

On the fateful day, Yendamuri Raghunandan slashed Satyavathi’s neck (grandmother’s neck) and kidnapped the infant Saanvi Venna and later killed the girl. During the various stages of trial he initially accepted to be guilty of the crime. But later said he was forced by two white men to kidnap the babygirl. But the CCTV footage and DNA evidence went against him and finally after two years trail, he was declared guilty of crime by the US court.

Saanvi’s father Venkata Venna talked how he is going through this painful phase and how he isn’t able to sleep, how he’s living and how he’s working. The heart touching testimony of Venna’s family left even the jury in tears and they sympathised with the Venna family for the ordeal and pain they have been undergoing these two years.

All through the conviction day trial, Yendamuri had a down cast face with no expression on his face and while the murdered kid’s father was speaking he covered his eyes with hands. He was found scribbling something. One final witness on Tuesday would decide whether Yendamuri would be sentenced with death penalty or life imprisonment.
