This is one more tragic case of ill treating girl child in India. A man named Rameshwar Rao wanted his wife, Priyanka to have abortion after they came to know she was pregnant with girl child. After she refused, she locked her in a bathroom for three years. He even tortured her and tried to impregnate her again.
The couple already have a 10 year old girl and little boy. While the boy went to school daily, the girl was also locked in the bath room. They were only given some rice and their health was deteriorating when the man’s father and a family friend visited their home and found them in the bathroom.
Further worse, the wife refused to press charges against her husband and so he is not even arrested. Police reached the spot on knowing the news but did not register a case after Priyanka refused. The wife and daughter now plan to stay in their family home.
