Water highway almost ready for AmaravatiAndhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu seem to be stressing on the importance of developing inland water transport. As the first step experimentation, the state government is creating a river route to Amaravati by Krishna River route from downstream of Pulichintala Project.

This River route will be used for building material and heavy machinery to Amaravati when the actual construction work begins. We are said that the DPR for this is more or less ready and would be submitted to the Inland Water Ways Authority for further action.

This will avoid the traffic snarls between Vijayawada and Amaravati. Also it is a huge cost cutting measure as water transport is much cheaper. It is already known that the state government is working on the development of National waterways -IV project connecting Kakinada and Puducherry with an investment of Rs.2,800 crore (AP portion).
