Chandrababu naidu vijayawada celebrations

The people of Vijayawada are celebrating the 100 days completion eve of Chandra Babu Naidu’s government for having selected their region to be the next capital of Andhra Pradesh. Vijayawada was supposed to be the capital in 1953 but the then chief minister Tanguturi Prakasam Panthulu ignored the city as communists are dominant there. Despite stiff resistance from various quarters of Rayalaseema people, Chandra Babu chose Vijayawada for the capital as he believes the capital should be in the center of the state.

Even the Siva Rama Krishnan Committee appointed by the Central government was against the capital proposal in Vijayawada. Last but not the least, Chandra Babu intelligently cornered the opposition which is largely based in Rayalaseema to back the capital decision. Vijayawada is the biggest commercial city of the state but always played second fiddle to Hyderabad for the last six decades. The local people are confident that the city will get its true share of development with this move.
