The Srisailam Left Canal Power Production issue is now solved in the favour of Andhra Pradesh government. The Krishna River Board took up the issue of over using the Srisailam Left Canal water for Power Production which can bring water problems to Telangana and Rayalaseema in Summer. It has ordered Telangana government to stop Power production after the permissible water level of Srisailam Left Canal.

According to the rule books, the permissible water level for Power Production is till 834 Feet which will be attained in handful of days and Telangana government has to stop Power production then. Krishna River Board reminded Telangana government that Srisailam Project’s priority is drinking water and irrigation use and act accordingly. Also there are rules that any water release from the project will need to be ratified by both the officials of AP and Telangana which was never followed by Telangana government. With this ruling, Telangana government not only got a hit from Krishna River Board but also will lose the 300 MW power offered by AP government if the power production is stopped.
