Vizag-timber-smuggling_hudhud

Vishakapatnam is almost looking like desert with all the greenery gone. We barely see any green leaves any where. 80% of the big trees, an estimation of five lakh trees have partially or totally got uprooted by the havoc of Hudhud Cyclone. Whenever commoners to the Chief Minister are worried about the fallen trees, the timber smugglers and timber depots are making a merry with the situation. They are completely using the situation and in the pretext of clearing roads are robbing the useful timber. In most cases people mistake them for government administration and leave the unquestioned.

On the other side government administration have been finding it tough to clear them due to the lack of machinery and trucks to load them. In some cases, the fallen trees are cut in to timber logs and are kept on the road sides due to unavailability of trucks, smugglers loot them in the nights. While all this is going on, the government is yet to give instruction to the district officials regarding what to do with the timber logs. They are reportedly mulling the option of auctioning the timber logs.
