Jagapathi babu with his father photoThe present generation youth may recognise him as senior hero Jagapathi Babu’s father, but for the yesteryear audience he is the dreamer of a superhit film which rewrote the box-office formula colourfully brimming with superhit songs and drama at peaks. Recently we’ve heard that Jagapathi Rajendra Prasad, the producer turned director was ill and under treatment. 82 years Rajendra Prasad passed away on Monday undergoing treatment in Isha Hospitals, Hyderabad.

Rajendra Prasad was the owner of the popular ‘Jagapathi Art Productions’ and the first film made under the banner was ‘Annapurna’. He made 16 films on this banner. Later he turned director and made the super successful film ‘Dasara Bullodu’ with Akkineni Nageshwar Rao and Vanishri as the main lead. He even wrote for some films.

And from then onwards his relationship and combination with legendary ANR gave many superhit films. In 1965 his ‘Anthasthulu’ won the National Award even. His career graph shows that the success percentage of his films is high both as a producer and director. He is one among the legends who has his share in bringing the Telugu Film Industry to Hyderabad from Madras. Tollywood lost one more legend who had long associaltion with the industry. May his soul rest in peace.
