property tax hyderabadTelangana government had issued notices to pay Property Tax to all the buildings being used by Andhra Pradesh government in Hyderabad. However this ploy seem to have backfired with AP government’s intelligent reply. Andhra Pradesh is allotted these buildings for a period of 10 years and after that they can not have any right on them. There is a rule that property tax should be paid by the owners in this case Telangana government.

AP government had asked GHMC and Telangana government regarding which basis they are served notices. If AP gets to pay property tax for 10 years, they will also get the right to sell those properties according to law. AP government is alleging that this is a classic example of how Telangana government is harassing its AP counterpart by violating the Reorganization Act.

All the administrative buildings in Hyderabad including Secretariat, Assembly, MLA Quarters, Ministers Quarters and other Government buildings are divided between Andhra Pradesh and Telangana on population basis. We will have to see how Telangana government responds on this! This issue is also likely to go to courts if both the governments are rigid on their stand!
