Telangana Telugu Desam Party which is fighting for its existence in the new state has decided to woo the farmers in distress for the party’s revival. The party has setup a corpus fund to help the farmers in distress.
An initial amount of 2 Crore was allotted to the fund and the party wants to help the farmers giving them 50000 per family of those farmers who committed suicides. This fund will be called ‘NTR Raithu Sankshema Nidhi’. Each of the TDP MLA and MP had given 5 Lakhs and 10 Lakhs respectively to this fund so far. The party has invited donations to this fund from all sections of the society.
T-TDP is planning a bus yatra very soon from KCR’s own Medak district to pacify the farmers. The idea of this fund in inspired by Lokesh’s Party Workers Welfare Fund. L.Ramana has taken initiative to develop the idea. About 300 farmers have committed suicides in Telangana since the new government is formed. Power Crisis in the state had forced severe power cuts in the state and as a result crops are getting dried leaving the farmers in doldrums. Adding to that even the rain gods have not shown mercy on farmers this year.
