Allagadda Akhila PriyaThe ruling Telugu Desam Party has decided not to contest in the upcoming Allagada bielection. This decision was announced by Deputy Chief Minister KE Krishna Murthy after wide consultations.

YSR Congress will be fielding Akhila Priya, daughter of Late Shoba Nagi Reddy from the seat. Following the custom of not contesting when the kin of a MLA is dead while in office, TDP has taken the decision. Tuesday is the last date to file the nominations and the election will take place on November 8th.

YSR Congress did not contest in recent Nandigama bielection which was facilitated due to the death of the sitting member and now the party wants TDP to replicate the same.

It is known that YSR Congress MLA candidate Shoba Nagi Reddy expired in a road accident before the election. Since the time of withdrawal is over, her name remained on the EVMs. Election Commission had declared that they will be holding a bi-election if Shoba Nagi Reddy wins. Finally YSR Congress won and the bi-election became inevitable.
