Caste and Politics are two inseparable things in politics especially in Telugu Politics. Most elections in the Telugu history are fought on caste lines and equations except one or two occasions like NTR’s debut and recent Telangana sentiment etc. Telugu Desam Party has began exploring in to Caste analysis after the recent election results.
The party for the first time after its inception is asking ‘Caste’ details in its membership drive. While this is not a mandatory field, the data obtained in the drive will be used to analysis about the castes who are close to TDP and who are not. The party will decide its policy for different castes according to this data. The membership drive is going on at brisk pace in both the states.
There is a thumping response for it in Andhra Pradesh while there is a lukewarm response in Telangana where the party is in opposition. It is also known that for the first time TDP is conducting its membership drive in states like Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Orissa where there is a size-able Telugu population as the party aims to become National Party in the coming days.
